In 2012, Kathy Vega was living in Denver, but missing food from her home country of the Philippines–so she opened a food truck. After getting rave reviews, Kathy and her family moved to Chicago–and “A Taste of the Philippines” was born. And the Chicago spot has been welcomed with open arms.
The “Cutthroat Kitchen” and “CHOPPED” contestant serves scratch-made cuisine with love each day, having “some of the best lumpia (Filipino spring rolls) in Chicago” according to The Infatuation, which is the food blog of MICHELIN fame. You can also get Ube, or purple sweet potato, donuts or cheesecake for an authentic, not-overly-sweet treat.
