Winner of Best of DwellSocial 2024: Best restaurant to have an at-home cultural experience HaiSous Vietnamese Kitchen came onto the Chicago food scene in 2017–and it hasn’t stopped topping hit lists, getting awards, and being featured in must-try articles since its opening in Pilsen. Owned and operated by Chef Thai Dang and Danielle Dang, a husband and wife power couple who take the community–and the food they serve–very seriously. Hiring and training locally, taking team members to special and private events, and building lifelong connections with neighbors are just some of the ways HaiSous is locally impacting the food community in Pilsen–and beyond. Another way? The experience of authentic, new-meets-traditional Vietnamese cuisine. Chef Thai grew up eating traditional Vietnamese food cooked by his mom and his sisters, but when he and Danielle ventured to the country to try new flavors and techniques, the inspiration for HaiSous came to life. And the couple has been acknowledged for the heart and soul put into the restaurant with six MICHELIN Bib Gourmands, the Five James Beard Semi-Finalist also holds a Jean Banchet nomination for “Best Chef.”
